Indigo Ribbon Awareness Campaign 2012-2013
***Last updated: 04/05/2012 ***
The Indigo Ribbon Campaign is a grassroots movement of Targeted Individuals and their supporters for raising public awareness about what crimes are being committed against Targeted Individuals of Organized Stalking and Electronic Harassment. It is also a campaign of hope for Targeted Individuals that their cries for justice may be heard and the very real gross violation of their human rights will be acknowledged and the crimes committed against the Targeted Individuals will be crimes in not just the United States but in all corners of the globe. The original campaign was designed to run through the month of November of each year as well as Indigo Ribbon day November 23rd. The first attempt at one on this site was mostly online, and is in the November 2011 Blog archives (blog posts to your right) as well as the Indigo Ribbon pages on this site. Currently we are designing a campaign that runs year-round. Hopefully the plan will be put outlined and ready to launch by June 2012. Until then, look around and even come up with ways to do activism efforts with these ideas if you like. Thanks for your support.

Why A Ribbon Campaign?

Ribbon Campaigns in past years have become a very popular and unifying means for helping groups, individuals, and organizations spread awareness and gather support for this cause. Just wearing a ribbon is a great way for those to know where you stand on an issue and show you are in favor of positive changes in that particular campaign.

What is The Meaning Of The Indigo Ribbon?
For the Indigo Ribbon, the color was chosen for this campaign because of it's meaning and significance. Colors themselves can have very specific meanings, symbolism, and significance to those who wear them and is one way to "advertise" and show where an individual or group stands on a cause or issue as well as show a sense of solidarity of those you stand for and stand with. For example, Red is used as a symbol to bring awareness to causes such as AIDS Awareness, and they are on the side of assisting those infected by the AIDS virus. The White Ribbon has been used to bring awareness about violence against woman. The Pink Ribbon has been used to promote awareness of the disease breast cancer. For the Indigo Ribbon Campaign, Indigo is both literally a combination of purple and blue, and also is representative of both the plight of Targeted individuals and where as targets of covert harassment as well as their supporters as a collective stand in terms of raising awareness of these human rights violating crimes of Organized Stalking and Electronic Harassment. Below is a short description of meanings behind the colors as it relates to the Indigo Ribbon Campaign on this website.

These are the meanings behind the colors for this campaign.
Blue: This color brings many things to mind: distance - oceans, skies, the heavens, etc. It can also be a color of hope. Hope of what the future can be for the victims of these crimes is one thing that fuels these activism efforts. Hope helps us to look beyond the immediate environment, expanding our perceptions towards the unknown and into unlimited possibilities. For many it is that one day these crimes may end for them as many Targeted Individuals remain so for the rest of their lives. Another word the color Blue can bring to mind is possibility. Others that relate to Targeted Individuals in what they seek to bring about in raising awareness is to bring feelings of peace and understanding, empathy and calm, and communication.

Violet : This color can be a representation of what most if not all human being strive to do --- individual spiritual mastery. For many Targeted Individuals, one way to cope with both the psychological and physical effects of the organized stalking and electronic harassment is to turn to God as they see Him/Her. The color represents a stabilizing energy, and constant inner stability is what Targeted strive to maintain as they live their lives in the face of these attacks on their lives and violations of their rights. In combination with the rushing energy of the color read, which can represent drive, Violet can also represent practicality in how raising awareness while appearing stable, calm, understanding, communication, etc. can assist Targets in getting their issues known to the public at large as it will ultimately be an awake public that stops crimes that ultimately rely on secrecy to remain “in business.” Some other representations of violet include darker tones are associated with sorrow, and many targets of these crimes, overtime, learn to honor and manage their emotions even as they are covertly harassed constantly by the perpetrators of organized stalking and electronic harassment; Violet, in it's bluish-purple version can represent imagination and idealism---in an imperfect yet potentially safe, enduring good world, the value of a person's life would trump all division and biases, equality and the right to your life as you see fit without harm to another would be an inherent human right. Targeted Individuals have their most basic of human rights violated on a daily basis---the right to be let alone, to be safe within their own person. We only ask those who make and enforce these laws take our plight as seriously as the perpetrators of these crimes do.
Indigo: A color of Infinity, togetherness, unity, eternity. Indigo is a ribbon that can represent stillness, a peaceful quiet that is all too taken for granted in this world. In rare moments when the harassment is not occurring, Targets can know and feel this peace even for these few moments of relief they may receive throughout the harassment the rest of the day. To become the tall tree that bends and sways with the wind but always returns to center is something Targeted Individuals are challenged with each day. Another way to describe this is the need to develop the ability to be “the flickering candle flame that the wind blows on and knocks around but not only returns to center, but the flame is never put out.” Another symbolism of Indigo deepens and turns blue energy inward, the Indigo Ray can symbolize the bridge between the finite and the infinite and opens the door to that unifying mystical borderland of which we all strive for. We are human beings like all others. This color represents that wholeness of humanity of which we are all apart, interconnected and interdependent. It is our hope, both Targeted individuals and our supporters and advocates alike that through unifying our efforts to raise awareness of the crimes committed against victims of covert harassment, we can know the peace and right that many have but for which most of us have no legal means to take back---and that would be our right to be let alone, to be secure within our own persons and to live our lives in pursuit of happiness without harm to others. And so, For Our Rights, to we act on reclaiming that inalienable human right.

How did the Indigo Ribbon Campaign get started?
The original site, IndigoRibbon.com (currently inactive) is the inspiration behind the campaign on this website. The Indigo Ribbon Campaign was organized in an effort to give all Targeted Individuals a voice that is all too often overlooked and even ignored. It's meant to be a safe, coordinated effort to unite targets and give them a unified symbol of hope. The campaign has online as well as offline components. Click here to learn how you may participate as well as other activism efforts you and others may participate in.

What is Indigo Ribbon Day?
Indigo Ribbon Day is on November 23rd of each year.
Indigo Ribbon Day is set aside for many activities such as events and conferences among grassroots groups both online and offline celebrating our efforts of the previous year on Indigo Ribbon Day. It is also the beginning point where the planning for the awareness campaigns of the next year begins to be implemented. The cause itself is meant to be a year-round awareness campaign. Current efforts to make it a year-around campaign are underway. The general idea is that all efforts continue throughout the year, with many major activism events that occur during the official Indigo Ribbon Month, which is November of each year, and also the official campaign holiday, Indigo Ribbon Day, on November 23rd, each year.

Goals of the Indigo Ribbon Campaign:
Raising awareness about Targeted Individuals. Raising awareness about the unique challenges these individuals face. Another goal is to increase support for Targeted Individuals and increase awareness of the crimes of organized stalking and electronic harassment, the two crimes committed most among these individuals. Finding a solution to end much of the covert harassment that occurs daily for these individuals, including changing the law, making it more difficult for these crimes to be kept hidden, more legal options for the targets of these crimes, expose the very real technologies that enable the perpetrators of these crimes to commit and continue to commit these crimes, and many more. These activism efforts are ongoing and will continue to be ongoing until these crimes are illegal in every industrialized nation on the planet.

What does it mean to wear an Indigo Ribbon?
Wearing the Indigo ribbon is a sign of Infinity and Unity. The ribbons acts as a symbolism of solidarity, of support, hope, and representative of the humanity of it's victims and our supporters. It also gives Targeted Individuals a chance to own their experiences, without the fear and public stigma that usually comes with being a Targeted Individual.

About The Indigo Ribbon Campaign
The original idea of The Indigo Ribbon Campaign came from this website IndigoRibbon.com (currently inactive). This campaign is adapted from that site as well as an individual campaign is being run on this site. The Indigo Ribbon Campaign was created by a Targeted Individual (IndigoRibbon.com) to help bring awareness about Targeted Individuals and the crimes committed against them. The campaign is also one of hope. We wanted a safe, effective way for targets of organized stalking and electronic harassment as well as their supporters to band together and unite in the cause to bring attention to the crimes and their victims. Soon we will provide downloadable documents for individual Targeted Individual and TI-Supportive groups to possibly start their own individual campaigns within their group and on their own site. Feel free to copy what is on this campaign page. Check back soon as more frequent updates will be added as we refine and improve the campaign.
